Charleston guide
After living in the Holy City for about 2.5 months… here are my official recs for a perfect Charleston visit! You can’t go wrong with the classics (Rainbow Row, King St, the Battery, etc.), but I’ve included some recs that are a little more off the beaten path. Enjoy!
1.I’on
I’on is a stunning neighborhood across the bridge in Mount Pleasant… perfect for scouting out dream homes. It’s known for its picturesque canals that’ll make you feel like you’re in Venice.
2. Community Table
On your way out of I’on, stop by Community Table for a casual but delicious meal! It’s located at the entrance to the neighborhood which gives it stronggg Stars Hollow vibes, as well as amazing cocktails and good eats. I highly recommend the burger!
3. Colonial Lake / Tradd Street
Colonial Lake and Tradd Street are the perfect areas to wander around and explore Charleston’s south of Broad historic district! Wandering these streets can easily take you to the waterfront, aka the perfect spot to stop and watch the sailboats pass by the peninsula.
4. The Citrus club
The highest rooftop in Charleston means the best views to sip on a fun cocktail! Located on top of the iconic Dewberry hotel and the perfect picture spot. Guaranteed to spot a bachelorette group (if you aren’t already in one). Cheers!
5. Garden & Gun Fieldshop
On your way out from the Citrus Club, stop by the G&G Fieldshop in the lobby of the Dewberry. It is the cutest boutique-style shop - Estelle glasses! Assouline books! Fancy cocktail syrups!
6. Gingerline
A brand new (& adorable!) spot on Market Street. Gingerline has an amazing coastal / Latin American menu and beautiful cocktails. Perfect for a meal or after-dinner drinks at the bar!
7. Harken Cafe
My favorite coffee/breakfast spot nestled in the French Quarter art district on Queen St. Pick up a coffee and wander through art galleries, or sit and stay awhile for breakfast. I love the ‘Bonjour Charleston’ parfait! (Bonus: stop by Harbinger Cafe, Harken’s sister restaurant)
8. The Ordinary
The Ordinary is the best seafood I’ve had in Charleston! It is an old bank-turned-restaurant so not only are you getting an amazing meal, but also a cool atmosphere.
